Fall Netflix recommendations: old favorites and new releases

Fall Netflix recommendations: old favorites and new releases

There are thousands of movies and TV shows on Netflix. In this article I will be sharing three movies and two TV shows I recommend watching when you are bored or with friends and family.

One of my favorite movies on Netflix is “Okja” (2017). If you enjoy action movies with a little comedy, this is the right movie for you. It is about a family who was paid to take care of an oversized creature from a business called Mirando Corporation, who created the big beast to be eaten and become the new meat America will love. The creature becomes the daughter’s best friend, and conflict happens when Mirando Corporation wants to take it back.

The second movie I would recommend is “Alive” (2020). If you like to watch horror movies with zombies in them, this movie is for you. It is about a video game live streamer trying to survive and find his way out during a zombie apocalypse. Although this movie is in Korean and you may have to read subtitles really fast to keep up, it is an exciting movie with a lot of plot twists when you would least expect them.

The last movie I would recommend watching is “Extraction” (2020). This is another action movie with a lot of violence in it. Chris Hemsworth, who plays the role of Thor in Marvel movies, is one of the main characters in this movie. It’s about a black market mercenary who is hired to rescue a kidnapped child from dangerous drug dealers. This movie is quite a ride and some people might think it is too violent for some viewers, but there are some caring and emotional parts that could get to your heart. “Extraction” was a total hit and has already broken records for Netflix.

Now, one of my favorite TV shows on Netflix would be “That 70’s Show” (1998-2006). This show is one of my favorites because it teaches a lot of lessons about family and friends. If you are looking for a good laugh, I would recommend watching this show because it mainly focuses on humor, but it can also be sad and emotional at times. The series is about a friend group of six teenagers on the verge of adulthood who just spend their time hanging out with each other.

Another TV show I would recommend watching is “On My Block” (2018-present). My sister and I have been keeping up with this show and we both love it. I think this show is more for teenagers rather than adults. This series is about a group of friends who are navigating their way through high school in the inner city of South Central Los Angeles. It is mostly about them dealing with the dangers of getting their friends out of gangs, and friendships turning into romance. This show is pretty chaotic and it gets my heart racing every single time.
