As the days pass by, we slowly get closer to Waipahu High School’s Homecoming 2024. With that comes the Arthur’s Awards and competition. Who will win this year?
In my opinion, the Soldiers, obviously.
One student said, “Moonlight Soldiers would win because we have the most spirit and we work really well together. “
If you think I’m wrong, think about WHS’ Homecoming 2023. The Soldiers got 2nd place, only because, I think, seniors got pity points.
Also, if you don’t believe me with seniors getting pity points, think about who normally has been winning the Arthur’s awards throughout the school years. But this year, the Moonlight Soldiers are going to bring it and leave the seniors without a win on their last year at WHS.
But enough throwing shade at the seniors, let’s talk about why the Moonlight Soldiers WILL win this year’s Arthur’s Award competition.
Soldiers got that SPIRIT! Last year’s cheer was really good, and if you even watch recordings of our cheer on the internet, you’ll realize how loud and how much spirit we have. Not only were we loud, we were united as a class, and it really showed the moonlight spirit.
YOUR own friends’ opinion on their classes cheer. Let’s be honest, if you asked a friend in the same year as you they’d probably agree that our cheer is better than the other classes. But if you asked a moonlight soldier about the immortal lions, they would say: “They’ve been the last 2 years in a row, AND sophomores have said that this year’s cheer is their worst one yet!”
Clearly the lions aren’t going to be doing so well this year…
Who the other classes think will lose this year’s competition. I sent out a form to see other students’ opinions toward this year’s Arthur’s Award, and the class with the highest percentage rate for would get last were the Immortal Lions with 67.4% of votes (29 votes).
Now, let’s see what some students had to say through this survey about the lions possibly losing:
“Cause they lost 2 years inna row.”
“Immortal Lions might get last place because they’re not really loud and lost everyone doesn’t really have spirt.”
“1. Terrible cheer reputation 2. L spirit.”
“I overheard some students talking about how they don’t like their cheer. Many are negative and don’t seem to excited to win Arthur’s like other classes are.”
However, the lions could be better this year since they are now juniors, but with all the responses about them, I think that would be rare. But since mass practices have started, let’s talk about it. Moonlight soldiers actually started late with mass practice, but still, we will give it our all. Now, enough with the Moonlight Soldiers being amazing, who could also possibly win Arthur’s?
To be honest, the seniors may win only because they are older, have more experience, and will probably get pity points since it’s their last year at WHS.
In conclusion, Homecoming week and the Arthur’s awards competition is days from now. It’s good to get into the spirit, especially since classes are starting to practice their cheers, so bring it and give it your all when it’s the actual day of competition. MOONLIGHT SOLDIERS ON TOP!
