On Friday, Aug. 30, Waipahu High School held this year’s Welcome Back Assembly. My name is Kai Valentin, and I was one of thousands of students who attended.
First, when I walked into the gym, the school’s cheerleaders were mid-performance. After they were finished, Mr. Sheets, Waipahu High School principal, gave his speech. Then, the Student Government did various skits about smoking in school, not trashing the campus, and making sure to be in dress code. Before the assembly ended, the cheer team did one last performance.
Overall, I thought the assembly was hot and uncomfortable due to the large crowd. However, everyone did a good job putting on a show that was fun and had good energy.
