Review: iPhone 13 mini
The iPhone 13 mini was released in September of 2021. It comes in eye-catching colors such as Midnight, Starlight, Red, Blue, and Pink, and starts at $699. I bought the 128GB iPhone 13 mini in the Midnight color back in December. As someone who formerly had the large iPhone 11 Pro Max, I instantly loved the size of the 13 mini. The 13 mini fits perfectly in my hand and one thing I love about it is that I can properly use my phone with just one hand.
Now let’s talk about features. It has a 5.4” Super Retina XDR Display. For scale, the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 6.7” display.
The MagSafe feature is very cool. it is basically a magnet that is placed in the back of the iPhone that enables features like magnetic wireless charging, magnetic phone mounts, and magnetic wallets and cases. I use accessories like the MagSafe Battery Pack, MagSafe Charger, and their many MagSafe cases. It’s amazing and super convenient to just slap on a charger and not worry if the iPhone was properly placed on the charger, as I have with some non-magnetic wireless chargers.
The phone features a new dual camera system, which is now diagonal instead of vertical as on the iPhone 12. Cinematic mode is a cool feature where you can shift the focus of things live in video. A downside of the iPhone 12 mini from 2020 was the battery life, but this year with the iPhone 13 mini, the battery life is drastically better with two extra hours of power than the 12 mini, totaling 17 hours of video playback. It has the most powerful chip ever in a smartphone with the A15 Bionic, which is much faster than the competition. And of course it has 5G, which is cool when used in places that have 5G ultra wideband capabilities.
The iPhone 13 mini is the smallest, thinnest, and lightest flagship phone ever made. Getting these powerful flagship features in such a tiny phone is amazing. So when you’re buying a new iPhone, don’t forget to consider the iPhone 13 mini.
